On Launch Complex 17-B, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, the second stage of SIRTF's Delta II rocket is lowered into position atop the first stage. After the first stage carries SIRTF aloft, the second stage will ignite twice, carrying SIRTF to its innovative, Earth-trailing orbit.
