Logos on the Delta II

July 2003:
On Launch Complex 17-B, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, the first stage of a Delta II rocket is nearly erect for its move into the mobile service tower. This is the rocket scheduled to carry SIRTF to its Earth-trailing heliocentric orbit on 23 August 2003 at 1:37:43 am EDT (22 August 2003 at 10:37:43 pm PDT). The second stage is scheduled to be erected on about July 28. Shortly thereafter, the SIRTF Observatory will be enclosed in a fairing and installed atop the launch vehicle.
