SIRTF on the Payload Attach Fitting

April 2003:
The SIRTF satellite is seen here connected to its payload attach fitting (the grey and white ring at the bottom of the picture that the Observatory is sitting on). This fitting connects the satellite to the Delta II rocket that will launch it on 18 April 2003 at approximately 4:30 AM Eastern Time. Launch coverage will be provided by NASA-TV, available on satellite broadcast and some cable systems. The launch will also be webcast by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
