Xiuqin Wu

Xiuqin Wu graduated with a BS in computer science from Beijing University and completed her MS from China National Space Administration. She started working on the NASA Extragalactic Database (NED) at IPAC in 1989 as a programmer working on NED’s first terminal-based user interface, X-window based, and web user interface. She joined the Spitzer team in 1997. She moved to the Infrared Science Archive (IRSA) as the lead for user interface development in 2009, in large part to support the Spitzer Heritage Archive, which resides at IRSA. She became the task lead for the Large Synoptic Space Telescope (LSST) team at IPAC in 2014 before returning to NED as a task lead in 2019. 

Xiuqin loved physics in high school and originally wanted to be a physicist, so working with the brilliant scientists in IPAC has been a dream come true. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and hiking. She has a daughter who recently graduated from college and a son who is currently a junior at Caltech majoring in computer science and math
